Money, before you book

What do the common repairs actually cost?

The bands below are what the work lands in once the fault is known, parts and labor together. They are ranges because the firm figure is written after the diagnosis — but they are the ranges we quote from, not a national average.

Every band we quote from, parts and labor together.
What gets replaced or put right Usual range
Igniter or spark module replacement $210–$550
Burner valve or orifice service $210–$710
Oven thermostat or temperature sensor $180–$520
Convection fan or motor $250–$680
Control board or touch panel $450–$1,160
Door hinge, glass or seal $200–$710
Diagnostic visit, credited to the repair $80

Flat $80 diagnostic covering the visit and the full diagnostic sequence, credited toward the repair once you approve the work. A range rather than one number, because the firm figure is written down after the diagnosis and a range is what you can act on before it.

Against replacing it instead

A comparable Wolf range, rangetop or wall oven, appliance only — before delivery, installation, ventilation or cabinetry. National appliance pricing, not Florida labour. A like-for-like machine runs $5,200–$16,500, which is the comparison the estimate is written against.

  • Wall oven or built-in oven, the usual repair-or-replace comparison $5,200–$10,500
  • Dual-fuel or gas range, 36 inch and up $8,500–$16,500

What the fee covers

  • The drive to your address anywhere in the posted service area. There is no separate trip charge and no fuel surcharge on top of the fee.
  • A full diagnosis, however long it takes. A hood that needs the baffles out and a static-pressure reading is the same fee as a burner that needs a cap set.
  • Test instruments and the readings they produce: manifold pressure under load, spark at each electrode, element resistance, board supply voltages.
  • A written estimate for the repair, itemised into parts, labor and the return trip if a part has to be ordered.
  • A straight answer about whether the repair is worth doing against the value and age of the appliance.

What it does not cover

  • Parts. Nothing is ordered until you approve the written number, and we fit genuine OEM parts rather than the cheaper aftermarket equivalents that fail early in salt air.
  • The labor on the repair itself. That is quoted in the estimate, not guessed at on the phone.
  • Installation work, cabinetry changes or electrical work behind the wall. We diagnose and repair the appliance; a cabinet opening that is out of tolerance is a carpenter’s job, and a missing dedicated circuit is an electrician’s.
  • Anything on another manufacturer’s appliance. We work one brand.

Two things worth knowing before you book

A second appliance on the same visit is not automatically a second fee. Say on the phone that the range and the hood are both misbehaving and we will tell you how it is charged before we come out, not after. What we will not do is diagnose a second appliance for free and then price the repair to cover it.

Corrosion changes the estimate more than the symptom does. Two ovens with the same fault can carry very different numbers if one of them has spent six seasons within sight of the water and the fasteners have to be cut rather than turned. That is why the estimate is written after the panel is off, not from a description over the phone.

Questions

Asked before the estimate is approved

Why is the repair a range rather than a number?

Because the firm figure is written down after the diagnosis and a range is what you can act on before it. Two appliances with the same symptom carry different numbers once the panel is off — out here that is usually corrosion, and fasteners that have to be cut rather than turned. The $80 is the part that never moves.

Is a second appliance on the same visit a second fee?

Not automatically. Say on the phone that the range and the hood are both misbehaving and we will tell you how it is charged before we come out rather than after. What we will not do is diagnose the second appliance for nothing and then price the repair to cover it.

What happens if I decline the estimate?

You owe the diagnostic and nothing else. No part is ordered until the written number is approved, no labor is booked against it, and there is no cancellation charge underneath. The $80 covers the drive, the full diagnostic sequence and the estimate itself, whether or not the repair goes ahead.

How much do appliance repair technicians charge an hour here?

We do not bill by the hour at all. The visit is $80 flat, whatever the appliance and however long the fault takes to find, and the repair is a written number agreed before any labor starts. An hourly meter pays for slow diagnosis; neither figure here moves while somebody is thinking.

How do I know the repair is not more than the appliance is worth?

Set the band against $5,200–$16,500, which is what a like-for-like machine costs before delivery or cabinet work. Every band on this page sits under $2,600, half of that lower figure. Where it stops being obvious is several faults turning up on one visit.
