Standing and scope

Do you work on anything other than Wolf?

No. Wolf cooking appliances are the whole of what we do: ranges, rangetops, cooktops, wall ovens, convection steam ovens, warming and microwave drawers, ventilation hoods and outdoor grills.

If the fault is on another make — including another make sitting in the same kitchen — we will say so on the phone and you will not be charged for the call. It is not a policy about loyalty; it is that parts, literature and failure patterns are brand-specific and we would rather be useful on one than passable on nine.

Are you connected to the manufacturer in any way?

Oceanfront Range Service is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Wolf or its parent company. All brand names and model numbers are the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify the appliances we service.

We say it plainly because it matters when you are choosing who to let into your kitchen. An independent company can be very good at one brand without holding any appointment from it, and pretending otherwise would be a different kind of problem entirely.

What credentials do you actually hold?

EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling, which is a federal credential and genuinely held. Beyond that: an independent, owner-operated business, and parts ordered from OEM distributors rather than aftermarket sellers.

We do not list credentials we do not have, and there is no manufacturer programme behind us.

Do you sell or install appliances?

No. We repair what is already in the kitchen. We do not sell appliances, we do not do first installations, and we do not take on the cabinetry or the electrical work behind an appliance.

We will tell you when a cabinet opening is out of tolerance or when a run has no dedicated circuit, because both cause repeat failures — but the fix for those belongs to a carpenter or an electrician.

What does a visit cost?

Flat $129 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work. It is the same figure whatever the appliance is and however long the fault takes to find, and it includes the drive: there is no separate trip charge on top.

You get a written estimate before any part is ordered or any labor begins. If you decline the estimate you owe the diagnostic and nothing else.

Can you quote the repair over the phone?

Not honestly. Two appliances with the same symptom can carry very different numbers once the panel is off, and out here corrosion is usually the reason: fasteners that have to be cut rather than turned, a housing that has to come out to reach a wheel.

What we can do on the phone is tell you which failures are plausible from the symptom, and rule some faults out before you spend anything.

Is there a warranty on the work?

90 days on labor and 365 days on parts, both starting the day of the repair, both written on your invoice. Genuine OEM parts only.

If the same fault returns on the same part inside that window, the return visit carries no diagnostic and no travel charge.

How soon can you come out?

We book appointments inside posted hours — Mon–Fri 8–6 · Sat 9–4 — and we do not advertise emergency, overnight or 24-hour service, because we do not run it. Call and we will tell you the next real opening rather than a number designed to get the booking.

If the appliance is doing something unsafe, that is not a scheduling question. Shut the gas off at the valve or the breaker off at the panel first, then call.

What should I have ready when I call?

The model number from the rating plate, if you can reach it. On a range it is usually behind the kick panel or inside the oven door frame; on a hood it is inside the housing behind the baffles.

Then the symptom in the order it happens — "clicks six times, then lights with a thump" tells us more than "the burner is broken" — and whether anything changed first: a storm, a power cut, a deep clean, a new filter.

Do you work on outdoor kitchens?

Yes, and on this island they are a category of their own. An outdoor grill on an open deck takes salt aerosol with nothing between it and the water, so burners, valves and igniter leads corrode years faster than the same parts under a roof.

Tell us on the phone that the appliance is outdoors. It changes what goes in the van.

Salt, storms and the coast

Why does the beach wear appliances out faster?

Two mechanisms, and they work on different parts. Salt aerosol attacks metal: blower wheels, grate feet, hinge pins, fasteners and the stainless you can see. Indoors it never gets rinsed, so it keeps working on the metal long after the wind has dropped.

The second is heat, and it is an installation problem rather than a weather one. A built-in sitting in an opening tighter than its specification cannot shed the heat it makes, so its electronics run above their design temperature for the whole life of the appliance and reach their failure point years early. Retrofitted cottage kitchens on this island are full of them.

Is a fifteen-year-old built-in worth repairing?

Often yes, and the arithmetic is not the same as it is for a freestanding appliance. A built-in wall oven or a rangetop is sized to a cabinet opening and to a duct and circuit that were built around it, so replacing it can pull cabinetry, countertop and electrical work along with it. A repair that would look marginal on a plug-in appliance is frequently the cheaper answer here.

What flips the decision is a stack of failures rather than one: a corroded blower housing behind a tired motor, or a board failing in an opening that will cook the next one too. When that is what we find, we say so, take the diagnostic and leave rather than sell you a part that buys a season.

Can a storm really kill a control board?

Northeast Florida sees roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, and every one of them is a chance at a surge event on a cooking control board. The failure rarely shows during the storm: the board takes the hit, keeps running on the circuits that survived, and quits on the next cold start days later.

That is why "it worked last night" is not evidence against a board fault, and why we ask what the weather did in the week before the symptom started.
